UCF Community and Tivoli Residents Rally to Help Those Affected By Sunday's Fire

On Sunday afternoon, a fire destroyed most of two buildings at Tivoli Apartments near the University of Central Florida. In all, 24 apartment homes were damaged, displacing about 75 people.  Fortunately, no one was injured. 

In the wake of the fire, Tivoli residents, UCF students, as well as members of the Orlando community have rallied to show their support and have been working diligently to secure aid and resources for those affected. 

Many UCF students call this community home, and some have banded together to raise money to help those affected. Fundraisers and GoFundMe campaigns have been organized by multiple groups to bring in donations, and many have even stopped by Tivoli to drop off donations and supplies.

The University of Central Florida has also joined in helping displaced students, offering temporary housing at the Lake Claire community as well as bedding and linens. 

The university is prioritizing emotional support and assistance as well, providing residents with a telephone number (staffed 24/7) to get in touch with a UCF Victim Advocate. Residents are encouraged to look into the connections and resources Victim Services can provide. 

"We're so thankful to the UCF community for their support and donations for these residents and their families," said Denise Snyder, Regional Property Manager of Emmer Management Corp. 

The Red Cross was on the scene earlier this week, providing students with personal supplies and essentials. Volunteers stationed within the Tivoli clubhouse helped those affected find temporary housing off campus, and can still be contacted to assist those who still need to figure out housing.

There's still a lot of work to be done, and many residents are in need to assistance. Donations are currently being accepted at Tivoli in the form of:

• Non-perishable items
• Clothing donations
• Monetary donations which can be made to the Red Cross
